About the Journal
Aim and scope
Coastal Resilience and Sustainability (CoReS) is a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary international peer-reviewed diamond open-access scholarly journal published twice a year. The journal aims to be a central point for collaboration between members of the EU-CONEXUS alliance, but is open to all who want to publish within the scope of the journal.
Subject areas, research themes, and disciplines covered:
To ensure quality content, each thematic section will be covered by the section editors assigned to the specific area, according to their expertise.
1. Energy Efficiency and Building Performance:
- Research on improving energy performance in buildings, including innovative technologies, policy frameworks, and energy retrofitting strategies.
2. Renewable Energy Systems and Applications:
- Studies on renewable energy technologies such as solar, wind, and offshore systems, with an emphasis on integration and scalability.
3. Sustainability and Life Cycle Assessments:
- Exploring life cycle methodologies for evaluating the environmental and economic performance of materials, technologies, and systems, and species distribution in relation to varying environments.
4. Smart Energy Systems:
- Topics like the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI), smart grids, and IoT-enabled energy management solutions contribute to smart and sustainable communities.
5. Environmental Sustainability and Climate Change in Coastal Areas:
- Research on climate change adaptation strategies for coastal cities, innovative solutions for enhancing coastal resilience, sustainable management of marine ecosystems and biodiversity conservation, ecosystem modelling, and exploitation of coastal resources.
6. Blue Growth and Development of Coastal Communities:
- Research on sustainable blue economy models, including marine biotechnology, fisheries management, smart aquaculture and coastal agriculture.
7. Social and Cultural Impact on the Environment:

The journal will also be a central place for publishing results from summer schools, doctoral theses, conferences, etc. There will be two issues per year, one thematic issue and one issue with the results of conferences, summer schools, workshops, etc.
Working languages
The journal accepts and publishes papers in English, but to promote multilingualism and broaden the research output, the Editorial Board encourages authors to write extended abstracts in their respective languages, which are then published together with the English abstract and up to 5 keywords. The languages of the extended summaries include all languages of the EU-CONEXUS Alliance members (Croatian, German, French, Spanish, Greek, Lithuanian, Romanian, and Ukrainian).
